Reviews of TCL 50S425 50 inch 4K Smart LED Roku TV (2019)

Great TV with surprisingly good audio!
I've been impressed with pretty much everything about this television. It was easy to set up, easy to mount, and the picture quality is great! The built-in Roku is incredibly convenient and makes it easy to watch content from different sources. The most surprising thing (to me) though was just how good the audio is. With my
previous TV, I ran the audio through my stereo, because the TV speakers sounded terrible, so when I first set it up, I did the same thing with this one. Unfortunately, my stereo started having some problems, so I was forced to temporarily switch to using the TV's speakers. I expected them to be weak and tinny (like pretty much every other TV I've seen), but the sound was surprisingly rich. It still can't compete with a good external audio system, but it's every bit as good as the sound was through my stereo.

The only negative I had at all was that it was damaged in shipment and wouldn't work, but Amazon replaced it VERY quickly, and the replacement works beautifully. I highly recommend this television.

 BUY NOW

Great, intuitive Roku TV. Buy it now!
This TV is amazing. First, it arrived early from the seller I chose, and in a very solid external box that protected the internal TV box. It was dead easy to set up. I do not have cable, so I logged into my existing Roku account and was good to go. Logged into Netflix and Pandora, signed up for Sling and CBS All Access, and started watching TV. The picture and sound quality are excellent. If you don't like the presets, click the * button and you're taken to a menu where you can change the brightness, tone, colors, sound type (voice, music, movie, etc). I sort of wish I'd waited till Black Friday to buy (hint, hint Amazon)... but am really impressed with the value for the money I got with this TV. It does really help if you are already familiar with the Roku remote and interface, but they're easy enough to learn. Big icons on the TV, simple buttons. You can use your phone as a remote if you download the Roku app there (which includes voice commands, which simplifies searching incredibly!).

A good deal for a 50-inch 4K LED TV.
Picture quality is good when viewed directly. But quality drops off quite noticeably and quickly as one moves away from the central axis. In other words, the viewing angle leaves something to be desired.

Remote control is your basic Roku remote. It takes some getting used to, especially if you would like to directly punch in channel number (for using with over-the-air broadcast TV reception). Furthermore, there is no way to indicate a channel as "favorite" so that user can easily and quickly step through the Fav Channel list. Apparently, the TV will assign "Favorite" status to those channels that it detects you have spent more time watching. That's nice, but shouldn't replace the users' ability to assign specific channel to be Fav, even if users only tunes in occasionally.

Not bad for a smart TV under 300
had a LG 55" smart TV which I bought 6 years ago. It suddenly went black screen and I found out it's a common problem for LG so according to YouTube video instruction I took it apart and baked the motherboard which didn't solve the issue. So I decided to get another TV which I expect to use for another 5 years.

I came across this TV model from searching for a low priced smart TV. I am surprised how smarter TV has become in 5 years. This TV has everything I needed, Amazon prime, New app, YouTube already programmed in and runs much faster then the old LG I had. The remote control is easy to use , of course the down side is the screen is really dark even when I turned it to the brightest. I might need to check it out in the store if this is normal but because we are in space in shelter in Texas, there is no store for me to compare. So far I am satisfied with what it can do.

If you want a decent tv, look no further!
I have only had this tv for a few days, but I feel confident in it enough to write a review. When I first got the tv, I was super nervous to order it because I thought it would arrive broken, or have some factory defects, dead pixels like someone else had mentioned.. but rest assured NOTHING bad happened! No dead pixels, no screen discoloration.. it has brought such joy to my home! I couldn’t have been able to afford a 50 inch at any higher price than this, but me and my husband were having trouble seeing our small 32 inch tv. First try, we went in store to a local Walmart, and the tv was broken straight out of the box, and it was such a disappointment. I was worried to order online since I thought it was better to buy in store, but I am so glad I found this tv and took the leap to getting it. Don’t worry! Just get it! There is a very very low chance yours will come broken or damaged, and even then, I think amazon is decent with returns policies.

AMAZING & AFFORDABLE 4K Display
ve had this tv since May of this year (2019). I wanted to give it a good 6 months worth of use before I gave a review of it. I have to say that this set is amazing. I use it mainly for Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, but I've also used it for PS3 and Xbox 360. Whether you're displaying in 4K HDR or 1080p or whatever, this set does not disappoint. The colors are very vibrant. There's no ghosting. It shows you on screen when HDR is being represented. The settings menu is fast and easy to adjust all the settings you'd want. I even tried using a USB drive with a 4K movie loaded on to it and it plays perfectly and looks amazing. I've read that TCL is the brand that is mainly used in Call of Duty tournaments which makes sense once you use one of these. I will be purchasing a larger version as I am now a fan. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
