Recently, I have been reviewing a lot of high-end, high falutin TVs. You know, the kind with all the bells and whistles, 3D, Internet Connectivity, and built-in Wi-Fi.
I enjoy playing with the new toys as much as the next kid on the block, but occasionally its refreshing to come across a TV that simply delivers the basics.
The JVC JLC47BC3000 is just that type of TV. Its LCD display is not cutting-edge LED backlit, but its Picture Quality (PQ) is solid. And its Audio Quality is way above average, even when compared to models twice its price.
This combination makes this JVC BlackCrystal HDTV a great choice for those who simply want an easy-to-use TV that they can plop down and enjoy their favorite programs without having to fuss with networking or apps or 3D glasses - just like the good ol' days back in 2008.
(Editor's Note: JVC offers four sizes in their BlackCrystal 3000 series, 32", 37", 42" and the 47" JLC47BC3000 that I am reviewing. The 42" JLC42BC3000 has the same specifications as its larger kin. The 32" and 37" have 60Hz displays instead of 120Hz and they have two
HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio, and interactive controls on a single cable. It transmits all ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committe) HDTV standards and supports 8-channel digital audio. First product releases using HDMI occurred in 2003." class=gloss>HDMI inputs instead of four. With those considerations, this review of the JLC47BC3000 can apply to all three smaller sizes.)
If you are comparison shopping, remember that this JVC does not include any Internet connectivity, which might be just fine for you. If this TV appeals to you, you can always buy and connect a Blu-ray player (around $150) or a device like a Roku box (under $100) with all the Internet apps you could desire.
Ratings are relative to when the review was written. The obvious example is Value, what you could purchase for $2000 two years ago or even two months ago would seem like a bad value for that price now. We have give very few 5 Star ratings, which we reserve for truly outstanding accomplishment.Bookmark: del.icio.us Reddit Google 11/23/14 - 09:15 AM PST | ©1999-2014 HDTVSolutions.com
