Reviews of TCL 43S425 43 Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart Roku LED TV (2018)

Great picture with Roku built in
To start off, we had an issue with the first TV we got, it was going to a black screen. Seemed like the back light feature was not working as we could still see the picture, just not lit. Amazon was super helpful at getting us to the right person at TCL to help trouble shoot this. Their technical support was super helpful also.
Unfortunately after initially getting the TV working again, it ended up failing shortly after. Again, Amazon was super helpful at getting us a replacement really quick. The newer TV seems to be working well and we have been satisfied with the whole process even if it was a little bumpy. The replacement TV look great is a wonderful size for our living room. I am disappointed there are not more HDMI ports, as connecting the TCL Alto 7+ sound bar takes up one of them. However, this works out well because that's all the devices we have. An Xbox One and a PC are the only other devices. Both look and work great with this TV. Sound without a sound bar is really not that great unfortunately, however, the sound bar works well and is really easy to connect with this TV. This was my second TCL TV and I've been impressed with both and would be very tempted to get a third if needed.

 Great for a monitor
I tried a Samsung I bought from Walmart, a UN40NU7200, and wow, it really sucks for a monitor. Takes forever to turn on (I've decided I HATE little twirly circles - see it for 10 seconds or more on the samsung every time you power it on), can't seem to figure out ALL I use it for is a monitor, and is very sluggish. Hard to hit the edge of my computer windows because the input lag is so large. Spent hours searching forums - turned off all the video processing I could find - it still was just slow enough to frustrate me. Enough about that bad product.
This TCL is an amazing monitor compared to that. I've got the 43 inch, and it is lighter than the 40" Samsung, takes a tenth the time to come on after power off, and has 1,5,10 minutes (and more) to power off, not the 4 HOURS of the Samsung. My computer would stop sending input to the Samsung, but it would continue to stay on and waste power for 4 hours. Unbelievable. The VESA mounts come with 2 screws at least (the Samsung had none, where 8mmx45MM I had to dig around to find). This takes pretty short M6x1 screws. Easy mount. The menus are much easier, the response is much faster. It took a while, but I found the magic to make this just display my HDMI at power on! This TV also cost over $150 less than the Samsung. If I used it for Roku (and I might, now), it looks like it is a painless, user-friendly menu. This TV has a RJ45 port for wired ethernet, which is very nice to have that option. Overall, Great Job TCL!

Great tv, needs better options.
The only two issues I have with this tv is the constant advertising of movies or shows in the main menu and on the screen saver. I don’t want to see that, and the whole mirror share option. Make sure to turn that option off out of the box because your neighbors might try to stream inappropriate things on your tv. I kept waking up to my tv being on in the middle of the night because my neighbors were trying to use mirror stream. The tv needs better options for keeping outside people from controlling your tv.

INCREDIBLE Value, Great Features!
I'm not a techie, so this is a review from an old lady who has her share of "Senior Moments". It was easy to set up, even for me, and the picture quality is really good. Another reviewer noted that the color washes out if you are looking at it from the side, but it's a non-issue for me. I haven't explored all of the smart features...did I mention I'm old? But I'm very pleased with this TV! It's easy to switch from Cable to HDMI 2 and 3. Works great with Amazon Firestick and DVD player with HDMI cable. Another reviewer claimed that the plastic legs aren't sturdy, but I've found that they hold the Roku safely. The only con is the remote. The description notes that it fits comfortably in your hand. Not so much. I have small hands and find that the remote is small, kinda slippery and sometimes difficult to grasp, but it's not a huge deal.

I was a little suspicious because the price was so reasonable, but it was a smart move. The price, quality and value of the Roku TV are EXCELLENT. I went from a 38" TV of another brand to the Roku 43", and the size makes a huge difference! I feel like I'm in a theater...too bad I can't chew popcorn! I recommend the Roku without hesitation.
